If you live in the area and are looking for outdoor activities in Lorton, VA, , one of the most interesting and enjoyable is a guided canoe or kayak tour on Pohick bay.

Pohick bay is an extension of the Potomac River on the Virginia side of the river and is a part of the Pohick Bay Regional Park.  It is a wetland in the tidal Potomac that is home to Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Great Blue Herons and a wide variety of wildlife.  Normally very tranquil, the guided trips over the Bay bring you into a peaceful world that is hard to believe is only 20 miles from the capital of the free world.

The park is a multifaceted recreational facility that includes golf, camping, hiking, birding and a number of other activities fit for you and your family.

You can select either a two person Mad River canoe or a one or two person recreational kayak.  Paddles and life jackets are provided.

Guided tours have been a standard activity at the park for more than 35 years and are always the highlight of an outdoor adventure near home.
